Vine Tape does not collect any data.
Vine Tape is an offline record-keeping app. It does not have an account system, it does not talk to any server operated by us or anyone else, and it does not include analytics, advertising or tracking software of any kind. Everything you type into the app — your seasons, plants, nightly tape readings, weigh-off results, seed records, and any photos you add — is stored only in the app's own storage on your device.
What the app stores, and where
Vine Tape keeps a local database on your device (using SQLite) plus a small set of on-device settings, holding:
- The seasons, plants, seed labels and crosses you enter
- Your nightly circumference, end-to-end and side-to-side tape readings
- Weigh-off events, pack-out checklist state and official weigh-in results you record
- Seed-lot records you keep for your own future planting
- Any photos you choose to attach to a plant's fruit diary
- App preferences such as your units (imperial/metric), reminder time, and sound/haptics toggles
None of this ever leaves your device. There is nothing to back up to a Vine Tape server, because there is no Vine Tape server — the app has no network access requirement and no backend of any kind.
Camera and photo library
If you choose to add a photo to a plant's fruit diary, Vine Tape can open your device's camera or photo library. The camera is only opened when you tap the option to take a photo, and the photo library picker is only opened when you tap the option to choose an existing photo. In both cases, the app only ever receives the single photo you take or select — it has no access to your camera or photo library beyond that one picture, and the photo is saved only in the app's own local storage.
Notifications
Vine Tape can remind you to take your evening tape reading, and can remind you the day before a weigh-off you've added. Both reminders are scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification system. Nothing about your reminders, your schedule, or the content of any notification is sent anywhere — there is no push-notification server involved.
Sharing
Vine Tape can generate a summary card image of tonight's numbers, export your measurement history as a CSV file, or share a seed lot's details. These all use Apple's standard share sheet, which only activates when you choose to share, and only sends the file or image to the destination you pick (Messages, Mail, saving to Files, and so on). Vine Tape itself never transmits this data anywhere.
Children's privacy
Vine Tape is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. Since the app collects no data from anyone, no data of any kind — from a child or an adult — is ever collected, stored remotely, or shared.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for example if a future version of the app adds a feature that changes what is stored or how — this page will be updated to describe the change before that version is released.
